When you're with a narcissist, they often have a hidden life that you don't see.
Narcissists feel empty inside and need excitement from many places to feel okay. They might use drugs or look at adult content. They might flirt with other people or have emotional relationships on the side. They can also get involved in money schemes that lead them into trouble.
They flirt with others because they want to find new people who don’t know their tricks. They worry they will get bored with you or that you will stop putting up with their behavior. Since they can’t stand being alone, they start looking for someone else to keep them company.
You might notice that they make promises to you but then use those promises to get what they want. If you don’t do what they say, they might take the promise back or act like they never made it. They often never planned to keep their promises in the first place.
Narcissists don’t really think about what is right or wrong. They only care about their own needs.
If you decide to leave, they might come back just to see if they can still control you.
If you have a child with them, they might use that child to hurt you, making it hard for you to set boundaries without help from the law. Unfortunately, the child can suffer from this behavior too.
Many people don’t understand what narcissists are like.
Sometimes you stay in a relationship because you're afraid of what will happen if you leave, but you might realize that staying hurts you even more.
Other times, you think you're staying for the kids, only to find that the narcissist is affecting them negatively too.
The best thing to do is to recognize that this person cannot find real peace. They only know how to confuse and control you.
You can’t have a happy life until you break free from them and focus on healing and feeling stable.
