A Lobster Diver Swallowed by a Humpback Whale

On a seemingly ordinary day, lobster diver Michael Packard went for a dive off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

But that day, an unexpected event occurred. The year was 2021.

After descending to about 45 feet, everything suddenly changed for Packard. Something gave him a huge shove, and a moment later, darkness enveloped him. His first thought was that he was under a shark attack. Sharks are often seen in the area, and they are a major fear for lobster divers. But then, he noticed there were no teeth marks on his body. Yet something was pulling him in. It was at that moment he realized he was trapped inside the mouth of a massive whale.

He told the media that in that moment, he thought of his wife and children. He felt as if this was the end.

He was trapped inside the whale's mouth for about half a minute. Fortunately, his oxygen tank was still working, so he didn't suffocate. Then, something incredible happened. The giant humpback whale realized that something was wrong. Humans are not its prey, and it's not possible for it to swallow something as large as a person. So, with a sudden jerk, it shot up to the surface, shook its head, and spat Michael out into the sea.

His colleagues quickly pulled him onto their boat. He had some bruises, but his life was saved. He said it was the most terrifying experience of his life.
